holy crap i have a blog and it's about money [Dec. 10th, 2007|06:29 pm]

i have heard too many desperate stories and gotten too many bewildered questions from friends and acquaintances in their 20's about money and debt that i started a blog to:

1) answer some of those questions,
2) offer tips and resources on how to get out of debt, stay out of debt, and start saving and more importantly, INVESTING your money,
3) expose more people to the idea of creating passive income streams and finding ways to make your money work for you. this last one i need to find out for myself as well, but i do know it is possible and i figure documenting my journey might benefit others as well, and
4) i want to show people there are other OPTIONS besides working for your money. Options mean choices and choices means freedom. Financial freedom is the most elusive kind we have in this country and I feel it affects our ability to experience many of our other freedoms.

there will be no get-rich quick schemes here and i'm not here to tell you it's going to be easy or fast because it's not. what it comes down to is what it always comes down to--self-discipline, self-sacrifce, and self-forgiveness--because the reward in the end is absolutely 100 percent worth it.

i heard a great quote once: people don't change until the pain of change is less than the pain of staying the same. maybe right now, paying the minimum on your credit card doesn't feel like much, perhaps amounting to slightly nagging voice in the back of your head. it's not the monumental explosions but the continuous stream of small annoyances that really destroy people, the gradual wearing down until you don't even realize you've hit bottom.

so yeah, read my blog. this was a really intense post, mostly because i feel like people don't take the effects of money on their lives as seriously as they should and i've heard too many stories from people way past their 20's who wish they did.

take care of this shit now so you're not sitting in it later.
